Diagnosing and correcting Mercedes-Benz error codes!

Diagnosing the problem
As Mercedes experts, our team here at Fitch Autos were contacted by Mr Kumar, who had encountered error codes P244A00 and B107A15 with his Mercedes E Class 2010.
The issues that Mr Kumar had experienced included the engine management light had become active, with a loss of power, possibly caused by a blocked DPF. The next issue was with the air conditioning not working, despite there being pressure in the system.
With the aid of the manufacturer-specific wiring diagrams and technical service bulletin information, our expert technician Matt Fitch diagnosed the issues and began the fix of the Mercedes E Class 2010.
Let’s fix the problem!
The first thing to do was to carry out a road test to verify the faults and check the operation of the air conditioning, and in doing so, we could confirm that it was not working. After scanning the codes to establish the area of concern, the next task was to physically measure the backpressure in the exhaust to confirm that it was acceptable at idle and 2000rpm.
However, when comparing the readings to the sensor, we found no issues with this. It was then decided that we would check the wiring, which confirmed that the signal was dropping out at ECU when manipulating the wiring of the Mercedes. We fixed the issue by replacing the sensor and repairing the wiring using the appropriate repair kit.
The AC issue was repaired by testing the pressure sensor for the air conditioning, which had shown that the wiring was fine, but the sensor failed the test. The issue was solved by replacing the AC sensor.
The fault codes that were diagnosed are as follows:
- Mercedes Fault Code P244A00 – Differential Pressure in the Particulate Filter Too Low
- Mercedes Fault Code B107A15 – Short to Ground / Positive on Refrigerant Pressure Sensor
It is important to remember that knowing the fault code is simple; the art of diagnosing the issue and fixing it is to take the information and run the appropriate tests to pinpoint the root of the problem.
